School perseverance days

As part of School Perseverance Week 2013,

we are pleased to invite you to a FREE conference presented by Shawn MacDonnell of Creativision surrounding the idea of perseverance, motivation and determination, entitled: Life’s most important unasked question: How do you get out of bed?
Join us at 7PM at Philemon Wright High School. All are welcome! For more information, check out the link: http://outaouaiscaps.eventbrite.ca/

School Perseverance Days are a regional event that aim to mobilize the population!

The third week of February, the province of Quebec will join in the rhythm of school perseverance days.  During this important time of year, we encourage you to talk about school perseverance with your loved ones, students and children, employers, and in the media. Host workshops, conferences, activities in yours classroom and encourage our youth to persevere!

The goal of this event is to actively encourage the community surrounding our youth and to talk about their perseverance efforts, the risks of dropping out of school and the advantage of obtaining a diploma or qualification.

It is also important to remind the population that school perseverance is everyone’s responsibility and each youth needs to be encouraged.

In 2005, the first edition of school perseverance days took place, organized by Réussite Montérégie.

This event paved the way for other regions to host their own school perseverance days and encourage partners to get on board. All sectors are impacted by school perseverance; schools, community and business partners. The “Instances régionales de concertation sur la persévérance scolaire et la réussite éducative (IRC)” (or the regional tables that exist in each territory) are responsible for the implementation of school perseverance days in their area.

Supporting our youth on their journey towards obtaining a diploma or qualification is important! It is essential that we are present to encourage them, congratulate them on their efforts and ensure that they stay motivated. School perseverance is the concern of everyone and school perseverance days provide the perfect time to talk about it.
